All of the wall and table clocks in the Vitra Collection were created in the office of the great mid-century designer George Nelson during the period between 1948 and 1960. The series of Vitra Clocks encompasses wall and table clocks as well as wall clocks for children’s rooms. Nelson employed a wide variety of materials in the design of these timepieces. The Sunflower Clock, for example, is constructed with birch wood, the Flock of Butterflies is composed of aluminum, and the Polygon Clock is made of stained walnut. The designer took a similarly playful approach to his wall clocks for children, the Zoo Timers, which come in a variety of fanciful animal shapes and bright colors. Along with these wall clocks, George Nelson designed table clocks such as the Cone Clock, Diamond Clock, Night Clock and Tripod Clock. Like all of the timepieces by George Nelson, they are equipped with high-quality quartz movements.
